Dominican Republic Trip

I was blessed this spring break with the wonderful opportunity to go to the Dominican Republic on a mission trip. The Dominican Republic is one of the poorest nations on the western hemisphere. Over 80% of the whole country is unemployed! I was just in awe seeing all of the poverty there. People were attacking each other for the food and school supplies we handed out. Some people lived in shacks that looked as if a simple breeze could knock over. Even some of the schools there didn't have enough chairs to fit all the kids, so the kids had to sit 2 to a chair, or even on the floor. But, the most rewarding experience ever, was seeing the joy light up in the kids faces as the received basic school supplies or a toy. These children and people found joy in the simplest things. They didn't need money, expensive cars or houses, or even air conditioning. They just simply found joy in living, and the Lord. Sometimes, I think we all need to slow down and just simply count the blessing we have received.

This picture was taken at a drug rehabilitation center. A few of the rooms they had there fit 10-15 people in a room no bigger than your average sized room. Yet, they were telling me how blessed they were to be living there. This was on one of the walls. It says "I love you Jesus Christ"
This is a picture of me and a little boy from the poorest parts of the Dominican Republic

 A beautiful sunrise one morning.

The beach was absolutely GORGEOUS!

Photo Shoots With Rachel Colman

Whenever I want to take pictures of someone randomly, Rachel Colman is always there for me. It's always a blast to take pictures of her, and we always have all kinds of adventures. We have waded in creeks and ponds, walked in grain fields, tripped over rail road tracks, and countless times stumble down trails in the woods. We always have a memorable time together, and I always LOVE the photos we get together.
